Juvéderm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. At Cape Fear Aesthetics, we use Juvéderm® for lip augmentation/enhancement. It involves more than just injecting the lips because you must also add volume and restore the corners of the mouth.
Dr. Dickerson will discuss what you'd like your lips to look like. Do you want more body in your lips, more definition of the edges of the lips, or both?
Before injecting the Juvéderm®, Dr. Dickerson will first inject lidocaine to numb the lips, which makes the treatment much more pleasant. He will then give the lidocaine a few minutes to work and inject the Juvéderm® to give you beautiful full lips.
• Minimal to no downtime
• Little discomfort
Common Side Effects:
• Mild temporary swelling, redness or bruising
• Temporary itching at the treatment site
• Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure for 24 hours
You will see results immediately. Initially your lips will look more swollen than you would like, just from the trauma of the injections. However, the swelling will reduce over the first 12-24 hours and when you return for your two week follow-up appointment Dr. Dickerson will see if you need any touchups. Results will last up to a year and vary from client to client.
DO NOT USE JUVÉDERM® if you: are allergic to any of the ingredients in Juvéderm®, have an infection in the area it will be injected, and are or think you might be pregnant
